The Salty Cellar Club (currently suspended) has been one of the chief delights of nightlife in Glasgow since 1999. A monthly series of art environment salon events, hosted by Annie Spandex (formerly of Lung Leg) and Marc Baines (of Vesuvius Records), first in the basement of the 13th Note Cafe in Kings Street, and latterly in Stereo, Kelvinhaugh St.

The Salty Cellar incorporates slide and film projections and the occasional live performance and buffet. The music (like it says on the posters) ranges from Space melodies, Hollywood hokum and Roman movie scores to Worldwide exploitica, Continental yeh yeh and Greenwich Village vootie. The emphasis changing from month to month depending on some arbitrarily selected theme for the evening such as 'beatniks and eccentrics", "mystery and thriller soundtracks" or "outer space".
